Overview:
Categories are considering important to product lines for grouping reasons.
This includes reporting, analysis and financial integration chart of accounts linking.
Categories are created and attached to what is known as a master category for further grouping. This adds an additional level of analysis capability.

Creating a new category
- Navigate to Stock > Product Maintain
- Click on the 'Maintain Category' hyperlink - See Product Maintain - Master Category for more information
- Select the 'Master Category' you wish to assign this category to in the provided drop down box
- Optional: Select an 'Account Reference' from the provided drop down box (Note: If applicable. For Xero/MYOB integration users only)
- Enter the category name in the 'Category' field
- Optional: Select a target category from the provided drop down box (Note: If applicable, this is utilised for custom targeting only)
- Enter the tax (GST) amount in % (Note: Do not enter the % symbol, just the numeric value)
- Leave 'Bitmap Location for Epay' blank in all cases (Note: This is not utilised currently)
- Optional: Epay Integrated & Gift Card Enabled (Note: These are only used for integrated epay customers. Advised that this be left as is unless you are certain that you need to enable one or both options)
- Optional: Include in Loyalty Offer (Note: This marks the category to be tracked for loyalty. Any products that fall within this category will be included as loyalty items. See Customer Loyalty for more information)
- Optional: Min purchase prior to applying loyalty/discount (Note: This appends the Include in loyalty offer option)
- Options: Loyalty Discount % (Note: This appends the Include in loyalty offer option)
- Optional: Include in Daily Reconcile (Note: This option will force the category to display sales processed to display in the daily reconciliation 'Other Terminals' area)
- Optional: Is Bundle (Note: Leave as is, not utilised)

- Click OK to save
- Proceed adding products to the newly created category
Modify an existing category
- Navigate to Stock > Product Maintain
- Click on the 'Maintain Category' hyperlink
- Locate the category you wish to modify in the list to the bottom of the screen
- Click on the category name that you would like to modify
- Modify any/all required fields
- Click EDIT to save
Delete an existing category
- Navigate to Stock > Product Maintain
- Click on the 'Maintain Category' hyperlink
- Locate the category or categories you wish to delete in the list to the bottom of the screen
- Tick the box adjacent left of the category/categories you wish to delete
- Click DELETE
- Click YES if prompt with an 'Are you sure?' dialogue
