This guide will cover how to establish the link between Epson OPOS and ClickPOS ConneX. Additional setup step will be required to ensure full communication.
OPOS & ClickPOS ConneX are installed on the same PC.
By default, CP ConneX will utilise ClickPOS' default logical device name 'EPSONPOS' for printing to the POS printer. In this case the program should just work without any configuration as it looks for a local host device within OPOS. This makes the assumption that the printer is configured with OPOS on the same PC ClickPOS ConneX is installed on.
To test that printing is working when device is directly configured on the local host PC..
Click 'Override Local Printer IP' and click 'Check Connection'
If it prints a test receipt, then all is well and you can select 'Override Local Printer IP' again to close that test feature.
If it fails, indicates that OPOS has not been setup and/or has not been configured correctly. Ensure OPOS performs a health check.
Printing to a device that has a different logical device; Not using 'EPSONPOS'
If there are multiple printers on the same network that are to be shared may require the use of a different 'LOGICAL DEVICE NAME' when setting up the printer in the Epson OPOS program.
Local setups do not require modification to the settings in ConneX regardless of the logical device name used in OPOS. In these cases it should just work. In a rare event that is does not work, you can enter the device name into the Printer Name field and do a check connection test.
Printing to a device installed on another PC host
Network setups will require the user to enter the local IP Address of the PC where OPOS is installed. In most cases the IP Address is enough if 'EPSONPOS' logical device name is being used on OPOS within the host windows PC. These setups are extremely rare and in most cases there is no need to install ConneX on any other PC except where the device is located/installed
If the host PC's OPOS version has a different logical device name, then you will be required to enter the logical device name and also the IP Address of the host windows PC when configuring ClickPOS ConneX within a slave environment.
Before proceeding with this type of setup, we advise you contact ClickPOS support to ensure this is the best option.
